A couple years ago I accidentally ended up at a country concert with a few friends of mine, and I had to re-evaluate my hatred of country music. Well, of course I realized it was all good, and started listening to it quite a bit.
So that brings us to today's stupid thing observation. Where I live, south of Denver, Colorado, there are two dominant country stations. The first is 98.5 KYGO. They have been here for years, and if I remember right, they are the top rated FM station in the Denver market, with 850 KOA tops on the AM dial. Now the secondary country stations come and go, and are always changing their name, trying to be fresh and new. The latest to battle is 92.5 the WOLF.
Now the WOLF plays the underdog card all the time, thanking people for making the switch, talking about how they are the new kid on the block. Recently I heard them saying they play “50 in a row.” And they kick this off around 9AM in the morning every day.
So I think to myself, “Thats cool, 50 songs in a row, that means about 3 hours of music in a row to start the morning. Since I work out of my truck, going from job to job, I can just set it on 92.5 the WOLF and I'm good to go.”
So I start listening and they keep saying 50 in a row while they play the songs. About 1 hour in, they play a commercial! What do they mean, this 50 in a row, I know they didn't just play 50 songs in about an hour, songs aren't one minute long!
I listen for a few days, and the same thing happens every day, around 9AM they promise 50 in a row, then they play around an hour of music. Come to find out its 50 minutes of music in a row, not songs! How ridiculous is that!
Not out in out false advertising, but pretty lame if you ask me.
Of course, they never promise 50 “songs” in a row, but what other assumption would a normal person make when told “50 in a row?”
Thanks for nothing 92.5 the WOLF, you win the stupid thing of the day award.
